Qualifications

Education: Master's degree, required. Master's of Divinity or graduate theological degree ordination or equivalent and endorsement by denominations or faith groups endorsing body. Completion of four units of CPE from a nationally accredited body, preferred.

Experience: Minimum of two years pastoral care experience in a healthcare setting preferred. Roles requiring communication across disciplines, preferred.

Licensure/Certification: Eligible for certification by APC or CPSP, preferred.

Responsible for providing comprehensive assessment of the spiritual, religious and emotional needs of hospice patients and their support systems. Provides advanced spiritual counseling to address patient/family issues of grief and loss, spiritual concerns, religious needs, and end of life planning. Coordinates or officiates spiritual/religious rituals as requested. Functions as a member of an interdisciplinary team and is considered the lead expert in spiritual care matters.
